Misato Katsuragi is the operations director of NERV in Neon Genesis Evangelion: long purple hair, a red leather jacket over a short black dress, a silver cross pendant and a can of beer never far from her hand. She is a 29-year-old military officer, one of the few adults at the center of the series, and she has been anime’s favorite grown-up woman since the 1990s.
Misato mixes a reckless, playful home life with total command in a crisis, and that contrast is why NSFW Misato cosplay has such loyal demand. If you like older, in-charge heroines, see our Faye Valentine cosplay and Motoko Kusanagi cosplay guides.
Where to Find NSFW Misato Katsuragi Cosplay
Misato demand is steady and long-lived, and it climbs every time Evangelion trends again, from the Rebuild films to new streaming releases. Supply is moderate. Many Evangelion cosplays focus on the pilots, so a good Misato build stands out quickly.

The Misato Katsuragi Looks Cosplayers Actually Build
Misato cosplay usually falls into one of five builds.
- Red jacket and black dress. Her signature off-duty look: the red leather jacket, short black dress, silver cross pendant and long purple hair. The reference build and the one most fans want.
- NERV officer uniform. The red and black command uniform with the beret-free long hair, as seen on the bridge. Popular with creators who want the commanding-officer angle.
- Rebuild WILLE captain. Her later look as captain of the Wunder, with the dark coat, cap and visor glasses. Rare and a sign of a real Evangelion fan.
- At-home Misato. Cut-off shorts, a yellow tank top and a beer can, straight from her apartment scenes. The easiest and very common cam version.
- Lingerie versions. Black or red lingerie with the cross pendant and purple hair. The quick NSFW version most performers start with.
Why Misato Katsuragi Is Such a Popular Cosplay
Misato is a flirt, a mess and a brilliant commander all at once. She teases, drinks, sulks and then takes control of a war room without blinking. That grown-up mix of fun and authority maps directly onto NSFW cosplay, and fans who grew up on Evangelion search for her by name.
She also has one of anime’s most recognizable color palettes. Purple hair against a red jacket, with the silver cross catching the light, reads as Misato instantly, even in a small preview.
How to Search for Misato Katsuragi Cosplay
Search her full name. Misato alone usually works, but the full name filters out unrelated results:

On cam sites, Misato builds usually sit under the cosplay, anime or milf tags, so searching evangelion and scanning for purple hair and a red jacket is often the fastest route.
What to Look For in a Good Misato Katsuragi Cosplay
The cross pendant is the first tell. Misato always wears a silver cross on a chain, and it carries real story weight. A build without it misses the most important accessory she has.
Then look at the hair and the jacket. Her hair is long, straight and a dark purple, not bright violet, and the jacket is a deep red with a high collar. Bonus points for the scar detail on her chest in the right scenes, a beer can as a prop, and a relaxed, teasing attitude that turns serious on cue.
